Every woman should have at least one sports bra in her underwear drawer. Even if you are not the sporty type and do not exercise much, you never know when the occasion may arise for you to wear a sports bra. Sports bras are very important and a necessity for every woman.
Without a quality, perfectly fitting sports bra, you risk causing permanent, irreversible damage to your Coopers Ligaments, which maintain the structure of the breast. This damage is what leads to droopy, sagging breasts.
When you are doing exercise, taking part in sport, or working out, all women should wear a sports bra for the best support during their exercise. Different sports and activities involve a different amount of impact and movement.
Most of this damage is permanent and irreversible. It is this damage that causes breasts to sag and becomes droopy. Sports bras help prevent this from happening by restricting movement of the breasts, maintaining the integrity of the breast wall and the shape of the breast. The support that a sports bra offers is the only way to prevent premature sagging and drooping, and possibly discomfort.
There are three main support types when referring to sports bras, low support, medium support and high support.
Low-support sports bras provide a little more support than the average daily bra but the lightest support of sports bras. They are mostly recommended for low-impact sports and activities such as circuit training, yoga, Pilates and walking. Some low-support sports bras will also be good for cycling and spinning, if you wear a small cup size you may be able to use a low-support sports bra for more vigorous activities. If you are planning on running and jogging, a low-support bra will not be sufficient or effective. You may get away with using a low-support bra for some light walking and hiking.
The larger the bust size, the higher support type that is needed; medium-support sports bras are suitable for low-impact activities for larger-breasted ladies and for the smaller cup sizes are suitable for jogging and cycling.
High-support sports bras offer maximum support for high-impact sports and activities such as those activities that include running, jumping and dance. Larger busted ladies may prefer to use a high-support bra even when doing low-impact activities.
Often it is very difficult to find a sports bra for large-breasted women that provides sufficient support. Some brands or manufacturers do offer larger sizes; however, many don’t offer the support necessary for high intensity sports. Many high- impact sports bras, when you can find them in larger sizes, will only actually give you low-impact support even if it is advertised as a medium- or high-impact sports bra.
What is a Low-impact Sports Bra?
To put it simply, a low-impact sports bra is an entry-level sports bra that is effective enough for activities such as circuit training. It is also important to note that even though some sports bras are advertised as the high-impact, they will only give large-breasted women low impact protection and support.
Small-chested ladies that are into yoga and circuit training will most likely find that a low-impact sports bra offers them all the support they need for most activities. Small cup sizes such as A/B may even get enough support from a low-impact sports bra to use while running.
It is always good to have an idea of what sport or activity you are going to be doing before looking for the best sports bra to buy. The type of activity is almost as important as your cup size when choosing what impact level, you need in a sports bra.
The low-impact sports bra will offer you a comfortable fit; if you only need a low-impact bra stick to it because the higher the impact support, the higher the compression, and the less comfortable it becomes.
